Dialogue with West may reinforce talks between Russia, Ukraine — Kremlin

It is reported that the previous experience of interaction with Kiev shows that without dialogue with the West, Kiev’s position is extremely changeable

MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. Dialogue with the West may become a guiding and reinforcing element in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine since Kiev’s stance is quite inconsistent without communication with it, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Friday.

"The previous experience of interaction with Kiev shows that without dialogue with the West, Kiev’s position is extremely changeable. So, undoubtedly, the directing, supporting and reinforcing element of such communication could also be interaction with the West, because the directives that come from there are meticulously implemented by Kiev," he said, replying to a question by TASS as to whether talks on Ukraine are possible only with Kiev or the West should also be included.

Earlier on Friday, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters that Moscow has nothing to discuss with Washington concerning Ukraine given the radically opposing positions of the two countries.
