Price of Russian gas for Moldova in April may exceed $1,000 — Moldovagaz

CHISINAU, March 22. /TASS/. The price of Russian gas for Moldova in April may double, exceeding $1,000 per 1,000 cubic meters, CEO of the Moldovagaz gas distribution company Vadim Cheban said on Tuesday.

"The purchase price at which Moldovagaz will buy natural gas from Gazprom in April may be higher than $1,000 per thousand cubic meters," Cheban wrote on his Telegram channel.

In March 2022, Moldova will import Russian gas at $547 per 1,000 cubic meters.

The head of Moldovagaz recalled that from next month the gas price formula will change. It will consist of 70% of the average monthly gas price for the previous month (TTF front month) and 30% of the price of the crude basket. At the same time, gas prices in Europe have renewed their all-time highs, oil has also risen in price by 15-20%.

Cheban assured that Moldovagaz would not rush to raise the tariff for consumers.

In October 2021, Moldovagaz and Gazprom extended the contract for the supply of gas for five years. The gas price formula takes into account the correlation between market prices for gas and oil.
