MOSCOW, January 17. /TASS/. Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has held a meeting with his deputies, commanders-in-chief of arms and services and other senior commanders on increasing the strength of the Russian Armed Forces to 1.5 million. The buildup will be synchronized with the supply of weapons and the development of infrastructure, the Russian Defense Ministry told the media on Tuesday.
"The Russian defense minister within the framework of the work in the combined group of forces, involved in the special military operation, has held a meeting with deputy defense ministers, the commanders-in-chief of arms and services and other commanders on the implementation of the Russian President’s to increase the strength of the armed forces to 1.5 million," the Defense Ministry said.
Shoigu paid special attention to the fact that all measures should be pooled into a comprehensive plan for increasing the composition and strength of Russia’s Armed Forces and synchronized with the delivery of weapons, military and special equipment and materiel under the State Defense Order and the creation of infrastructure for the accommodation of troops (forces) and provided with appropriate resources.
As Shoigu noted, these measures would be taken during 2023-2026 and require the deputy defense ministers, commanders-in-chief (of individual arms) and commanders (of the military regions, Northern Fleet and services) make appropriate competent decisions.
