ISTANBUL, November 18. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump may urge Ukraine to resolve its military conflict with Russia and accept a peace agreement, Ilter Turan, President of the International Association of Political Science and a professor at Turkey’s Bilgi University, has said.
"There are claims that Trump finds it easier to negotiate and develop rapport with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin. More importantly, Trump himself seems to want the war to end, as he opposed providing [military] aid to Ukraine. Therefore, he is likely to pressure Ukraine into agreeing to a [peace] deal that includes some of Russia’s territorial demands," Turan told the Sozcu newspaper.
According to Turan, Ukraine lacks the capacity to sustain its confrontation with Russia for an extended period without support from the US and Europe. "Will Europe support Ukraine if the US does not? Current developments suggest that Europe is unlikely to maintain its support for Ukraine," Turan added.
