ASTANA, November 9. /TASS/. Relations between Kazakhstan and Russia are going smoothly, with no problems to speak of, Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev said.
"We are allies, strategic partners. There are no fundamental problems in our relations. Kazakhstan and Russia understand equally well that independent, sovereign choice of development paths does not hinder, but, on the contrary, increases manifold the benefits of equal and mutually advantageous partnership," Tokayev said at expanded bilateral talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Tokayev said he had held talks with the Russian president on all issues of cooperation, and they were on the same page about upcoming joint work.
"Due to joint efforts, cross-border activity is working for the good of the economies of both countries. Concrete benefits are felt by about 25 million ordinary Kazakhs and Russians living in the regions along the border," the president of Kazakhstan explained.
