NEW DELHI, February 2. /TASS/. India hopes that Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, scheduled for June, and the G20 summit in September, Indian Ambassador to Moscow Pawan Kapoor said on Thursday.
"We [are] also hoping that we will get [Russian] President [Vladimir] Putin for the SCO summit in June and then hopefully for the G20 summit in September," Kapoor said, speaking online during the conference ‘India-Russia Strategic Partnership: New Challenges and Opportunities in a Changing World Order’.
India is chairing both the SCO and the G20 in 2023. Earlier, the G20 Organizing Committee announced that the 18th G20 Summit of Heads of State and Government will be held in New Delhi on September 9 to 10, 2023. In addition to the leaders of the G20, the leaders of nine other countries - Bangladesh, Egypt, Spain, Mauritius, Nigeria, the Netherlands, Oman, the UAE and Singapore - were invited to attend.
Svetlana Lukash, the Russian president's representative (Sherpa) at the G20, told TASS that there was every chance for Vladimir Putin to participate in the G20 summit in September 2023 in New Delhi.
