Statements from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky often contradict each other, and for now Russia is not much enthusiastic about the stance of the Ukrainian side at the talks, Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyansky told journalists on Tuesday when asked to comment on Zelensky’s words about the possibility to consider the status of Donbass and Ukraine’s giving up on its NATO membership bid.

"We heard a lot of statements from President Zelensky, some of them contradicting the others. There is a team of my colleagues who deal with negotiating with the Ukrainian side and who assess whether they are serious or not about discussing real things," the diplomat said.

"So far, they are not very much enthusiastic about the approach of the Ukrainian side," Polyansky noted. He also stressed that regime change is not the aim of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. "Regime change was never our aim. What we want is to denazify Ukraine," the deputy envoy explained.
