Ukrainian nationalist battalions plan provocations involving civilians — Russia’s UN envoy

It was stated that in some Ukrainian cities, the population is being used as human shield

UNITED NATIONS, March 2. /TASS/. Ukrainian nationalist battalions are plotting provocations involving civilians in order to pin the blame for casualties on Russian troops, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya said at the UN General Assembly’s emergency session on Ukraine on Wednesday.

"In some Ukrainian cities, the population is being used as human shields. It became known today that Ukraine’s Armed Forces do not allow civilians to leave the city, holding them, including women and children, in a school of Mariupol. They are forcibly bringing back all the civilians who have tried to leave the city through the provided humanitarian corridors," he said.

"We are also aware of the provocations planned by nationalist battalions, which they have plotted to exploit the civilian population, in order to put the blame on Russian troops afterward," Nebenzya said.
