GLASGOW, August 6. /TASS/. Russian swimmers Kliment Kolesnikov and Yevgeny Rylov won gold and silver respectively at the 2018 European Championships in 100m men’s backstroke event in Glasgow on Monday.

Kolesnikov won the gold completing the distance with the result of 52.53 seconds, while his teammate took silver with the result of 52.74 seconds. Apostolos Christou of Greece clocked the distance with the result of 53.72 seconds to win the bronze.

This was the second gold for Kolesnikov at the 2018 European Championships after winning the first one last week in the 50m men’s backstroke event and setting a new world record.

The 2018 European Championship is the first multi-sport event uniting different European championships and held between August 2 and 12 in Scotland’s Glasgow and Edinburgh as well as in Germany’s Berlin.
