Nicaragua condemns war blogger Tatarsky’s murder in St. Petersburg terror attack

On April 2, Maxim Fomin, better known as Vladlen Tatarsky, was killed in a blast that rocked a cafe in downtown St. Petersburg

HAVANA, April 5. /TASS/. Nicaragua condemned on Tuesday the act of terror in St. Petersburg that killed war blogger Vladlen Tatarsky, and expressed condolences to his family.

"In these moments of sorrow and pain for the relatives of war reporter Maxim Fomin, better known as Vladlen Tatarsky, being shared by the Russian people and government, we offer our deepest and most sincere condolences as we condemn all terror attacks," Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and Vice President Rosario Murillo said in a statement.

"We strongly reject these hideous acts of crime and terrorism that are aimed at restricting freedom through intimidation," they said. "We condemn this practice that violates everybody’s rights," according to the statement.

Tatarsky was killed in a blast that rocked a cafe in downtown St. Petersburg on April 2. The explosion left 40 people injured. According to the National Anti-Terrorism Committee, the attack was plotted by Ukraine’s intelligence agencies. The Russian Investigative Committee reclassified the murder case opened following the blast as an act of terrorism.
