MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. The rate of crimes involving weapons and explosives surged by 49% in Russia in January 2023 against the like period of the last years, according to records of the Russian Ministry of Interior seen by TASS.
"In January 2023, 611 crimes were committed with the use of weapons, ammunition, explosives, explosive items or their mockups, which is 49% higher than a year earlier," according to documents.
The rate of crimes related to the illegal turnover of weapons increased by 2.4% annually in January 2023, the Ministry said. The highest incremental growth rate of crimes involving firearms and gas spray weapons, explosives and explosive devices was registered in the Belgorod Region, followed by the Bryansk Region and the Kursk Region.
More than 151,000 crimes were registered in total in January 2023, up 1.1% year-on-year.
