Unemployment rate in Russia down to 2.8% — Putin

The unemployment rate is "a critical indicator of the economic situation at large," the Russian leader stressed

MOSCOW, April 4. /TASS/. The unemployment rate in Russia is now at a record low 2.8%, President Vladimir Putin said at the 12th congress of the Russian Federation of Independent Trade Unions.

"We achieved a material decline in the unemployment rate owing to the actions of the government, businesses, regions and trade-union associations. It is at a record low now, less than 3%," the head of state said.

The reduction in the unemployment rate is "a good sign," Putin noted. "In 2023, the unemployment rate in Russia for the first time dropped below 3% and totaled 2.9%. It declined further to 2.8% this February," he said.

The unemployment rate is "a critical indicator of the economic situation at large," the Russian leader added.
