Germany knows about Putin’s proposal on gas supplies via Nord Stream — Russian Ambassador

"I regret saying primacy of politics over economy in Germany is indisputable at present," Sergey Nechaev noted

BERLIN, March 6. /TASS/. Germany is aware of the proposal made by Russian President Vladimir Putin to start gas supplies along the survived string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline but there is no meaningful response so far, Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev told TASS.

"The proposal of our President is absolutely specific; it is well known here," the Ambassador said. "We have not observed a meaningful response so far," he noted.

Proposals to restore and use the Nord Stream were many times voiced at the level of regional and business elites in Germany, Nechaev said. "It would be a very beneficial decision for Germany and its citizens, but concerns are greater here at present as regards forming new anti-Russian sanctions, rather than standing for national interests in the energy sphere," the Russian diplomat noted.

"I regret saying primacy of politics over economy in Germany is indisputable at present," he added.

The surviving Nord Stream gas pipeline string can be launched in a week but Germany does not show interest in that, Russian President Vladimir Putin said earlier.
