Russian forces wipe out 4 Leopard tanks in Zaporozhye area over past day

According to Vladimir Rogov, intense artillery duels are underway in the Orekhov direction

MELITOPOL, October 27. /TASS/. Russian forces destroyed at least four German-made Leopard tanks of the Ukrainian army in the Zaporozhye area over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Vladimir Rogov, chairman of the We Are Together with Russia movement, told TASS on Friday.

"The Ukrainian military employed about 10 pieces of heavy equipment in its attack between Rabotino and Verbovoye. These were tanks and infantry fighting vehicles. At least six of them were Leopard tanks. Our forces struck them by Solntsepyok weapons [heavy flamethrowers] and drones. At least four Leopard tanks were destroyed in that area," the politician said.

In the Orekhov direction, intense artillery duels are underway. The Ukrainian military is delivering fire from multiple launch rocket systems and using cluster munitions, he said.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Thursday that Russian forces had destroyed two Leopard tanks and roughly 85 Ukrainian troops in the Zaporozhye area over the past 24 hours.

The Ukrainian army has been making unsuccessful attempts to advance since June 4. As Russian President Vladimir Putin said on October 5, Kiev has lost over 90,000 troops and more than 550 tanks over four months of its counteroffensive. Putin said that the Ukrainian army’s counteroffensive had completely failed, although Kiev was preparing new offensive operations in some frontline sectors.
