US seeks regime change in countries pursuing independent policy — Russian envoy

According to Igor Morgulov, China "has never threatened any country and has always sought to create a comfortable external environment through dialogue, cooperation and friendship"

BEIJING, February 27. /TASS/. Washington seeks to weaken or change regimes in countries that pursue independent foreign policies, Russian Ambassador to Beijing Igor Morgulov said in an interview with China’s Global Times newspaper, published on Monday.

"The main goal of the United States is to maintain its hegemony and strengthen control over Europe, as well as to weaken or change governments in the countries that pursue independent foreign policies. This time, Russia became its number one target among global powers," he pointed out.

Morgulov emphasized that Washington was also using political and economic containment against "peacefully developing China."

According to the Russian envoy, China "has never threatened any country and has always sought to create a comfortable external environment through dialogue, cooperation and friendship."
