EU ‘swallowed’ Nord Stream sabotage, fearing US discontent — Russia’s UN envoy

"Now they are trying to sweep all inconvenient facts under the rug, fearing to provoke Washington’s discontent," Nebenzya added

UNITED NATIONS, February 23. /TASS/. The European Union has ‘swallowed’ the sabotage attack that disrupted operations of the Nord Stream pipeline, and is now trying to sweep facts under the rug in order not to provoke Washington's discontent, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya told a UN Security Council meeting on Thursday.

"One thing is evident: Europe’s history has never seen such political impotence before, such servility towards the United States. It came to the point when Brussels had to silently swallow the explosion of a cross-country gas pipeline by its closest ally," the diplomat said, adding that European investors were among those who financed the pipeline's construction.

"Now they are trying to sweep all inconvenient facts under the rug, fearing to provoke Washington’s discontent," Nebenzya added.
