MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Civilian killings by Ukrainian militants in the Kharkov Region will not go unpunished, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Tuesday.
"The killings of the Kharkov Region’s residents remains on the conscience of the Kiev regime and they will also not go unpunished. We would very much like the international community to finally wake up, break out of its current slumber and show impartiality and a principled approach when assessing the recent actions and statements of the Ukrainian authorities," she emphasized, commenting on a video showing a massacre of civilians in the city of Kupyansk, Kharkov Region, which had been posted on social media by Maxim Zhorin, former commander of Ukraine’s Azov nationalist battalion (designated as a terrorist organization and outlawed in Russia), on October 9.
"They won’t be able to blame Russia for the killings of their own people sponsored by the Kiev regime," Zakharova added.
She pointed out that the Azov member had deleted the post accompanying his video and tried to blame the Kupyansk killings on Russian troops. "However, the video’s metadata makes it clear that it was made on October 9, when Kupyansk was controlled by Ukrainian neo-Nazis," Zakharova explained.
According to her, Moscow understands perfectly well that the US and other Western countries will do everything they can to make sure that Ukraine’s numerous crimes don’t come to the attention of human rights organizations and public figures. "In this situation, the only possible option is to carry on with the special military operation and achieve its goals," the diplomat stressed.
