West rejects integration processes within CIS — security official

It was added that "the West continues to implement its plans on destruction of the common history and moral and spiritual values" that the people of CIS states hold precious

MOSCOW, June 6. /TASS/. The West categorically rejects integration processes on the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) territory, Russian Security Council Deputy Secretary Rashid Nurgaliyev said in an interview Monday.

"The West categorically rejects integration processes on the CIS territory. Europe and the US are annoyed by how strong the memory of the people living on the CIS territory is, how well we remember the horrors of the war, how we remember our joint labor of building of the strongest state in the world, how we value successes and achievements in economy, science, education and medicine," Nurgaliyev said.

He added that "the West continues to implement its plans on destruction of the common history and moral and spiritual values" that the people of CIS states hold precious.

The official also pointed out that "in the last few decades, the West was turning Ukraine into a hotbed of tensions, dismantling this country’s economy, suppressing its sovereignty and breeding neo-Nazism on its territory."

"The events in Ukraine are logical outcome systematic activities of the West, primarily of Washington, on reformatting of states that are the closest to Russia in sprit, history, culture, economic and political views," he added.

According to Nurgaliyev, this policy began back in the 1908s, "when the West rocked the situation in the Soviet Union by imposing economic sanctions, bribing national elites, and sponsoring pseudo-democratic, primarily radical opposition movements.".
