MOSCOW, March 22. /TASS/. Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov has refrained from commenting on Russia’s losses in the course of the special military operation in Ukraine.
When asked by journalists to comment on reports about Russia’s losses in Ukraine, which were made public by the Komsomolskaya Pravda on Monday, and which seriously differ from the Russian defense ministry’s data, Peskov said, "No, I cannot comment on it, you’d better ask the Komsomolskaya Pravda."
The newspaper’s journalists, Alexander Gamov, explained that the paper’s website had been hacked "and false, fake information was posted literally within several minutes." "Many mass media outlets know about it," he added.
"Thank you, Sasha," replied Peskov.
The Kremlin spokesman said he doesn’t have the latest update concerning Russia’s losses. "We don’t have such information and have no right to make it public in the course of the military operation. It is the defense ministry’s prerogative," he stressed.
The Russian defense ministry reported on March 2 that 498 Russian soldiers had been killed and 1,597 more had been wounded.
