IMF expects China to fuel global development in 2023, says ambassador

Confidence regarding national economic development is growing in China and overseas, and plenty of international organizations and institutions are revising their outlooks upward as far as anticipated growth rates of the Chinese economy go

MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) anticipates that China will be a key powerhouse fueling global development in 2023, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui said in an interview with TASS.

"The IMF upgraded the expected economic growth of China in 2023 from 4.4% to 5.2%, assuming that China will be the biggest driver of global development this year against the overall background of the continuing global economic downturn," the ambassador said.

Confidence regarding national economic development is growing in China and overseas, and plenty of international organizations and institutions are revising their outlooks upward as far as anticipated growth rates of the Chinese economy go, Zhang Hanhui said. "It is forecast here and there that the growth rates of China's economy will reach about 5% or even more in 2023," he noted.

"If we look at this year’s prospects, normal lifestyle routines are returning swiftly to all regions after passing the peak of the pandemic, and the industrial order is being gradually restored," the diplomat added.
