MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. Wine production in Russia climbed by 45.9% in January 2023 compared to the same time in 2022 reaching 1.6 mln decaliters, while champagne production increased by 35.9% and amounted to 827,500 decaliters, the Federal Service for Alcohol Market Regulation reported on Wednesday.
According to the agency, grape-containing beverages without ethyl alcohol production climbed by 2.8% to 213,300 deciliters, while grape-containing drinks with ethyl alcohol production plummeted by 51.1% to 3,100 deciliters. In January, Russia's production of fruit alcoholic beverages fell by 28% to 523,500 decalitres. Liquor wines production climbed by 90.1% to 69,800 deciliters.
In January 2023, total alcoholic beverage production (excluding beer, beer drinks, cider, poiret, and mead) increased by 14.1% to 12.03 mln decalitres. The figure includes production of alcoholic beverages with a strength of more than 9%, rising by 4.6% to 7.2 ln decalitres. At the same period, vodka output fell by 3.5% to 4.75 mln decaliters, while cognac production climbed by 8% to 658,200 decaliters. The production of alcoholic beverages with a strength of up to 25% fell by 99.1% to 1,500 deciliters, while production of alcoholic beverages with a strength of over 25% climbed by 31.9% to 975,100 decaliters.
In January, the output of other alcoholic beverages with a strength of over 9% rose by 93.8% to 784,100 decalitres. According to the report, the production volume of low-alcohol items climbed by 62.1% to 1.6 mln decalitres.
