Russian troops carry out four relief actions for Syrians affected by quake — top brass

Russian Rear Admiral pointed out that in the field hospital set up in the city of Aleppo, medics of the Belarusian Armed Forces, alongside Russian health professionals, continue to provide necessary medical assistance to Syrian earthquake victims

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. The Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties and the Russian grouping in Syria have held four humanitarian actions in the Syrian regions of Latakia and Hama to help the local residents affected by the recent earthquake, Rear Admiral Oleg Gurinov, the center’s deputy chief, said on Friday.

"Four humanitarian actions were carried out in Al-Qatria in Latakia province, Ayn al-Kurum and Al-Suqaylabiyah in Hama province, where food and basic necessities were handed to residents in need. A total of 116 humanitarian actions have been held since February 7," he said.

Gurinov pointed out that in the field hospital set up in the city of Aleppo, medics of the Belarusian Armed Forces, alongside Russian health professionals, continue to provide necessary medical assistance to Syrian earthquake victims. At least 2,000 people have received treatment since February 17, or 142 people per day.

In addition, he said that international humanitarian aid was still arriving from other countries. According to Gurinov, six planes carrying relief aid from the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Iraq arrived in Syria over the past 24 hours. Four of them landed at the Russian Hmeymim airbase.
