MOSCOW, May 17 (Itar-Tass) — Russian Helicopters will build over 300 choppers worth 150 billion roubles in 2012, the holding’s director-general, Dmitry Petrov, told Itar-Tass on the sidelines of HeliRussia 2012 exhibition that opened in Moscow on Thursday.
“At present, we occupy 9 percent of the world’s civil helicopter market and 22 percent of the military helicopter market,” he said. “We keep leading positions on the markets of Russia, CIS, India and China and take active efforts to achieve similar results in new, fast-developing markets of Latin America, in particular Brazil and Argentina.”
“In the beginning of the 2000s the share of Russian-made helicopters on the global market was estimated at a mere 3 percent and Russia manufactured around 80 choppers a year. In 2011 we supplied 262 helicopters to customers, up by 48 choppers or 22.4 percent than in 2010. This growth in exports allowed us to take 14 percent of the global helicopter market,” Petrov said.
