MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky told reporters he hopes to learn details of the recent phone conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin from the US leader.
"I expect to have a conversation with President Trump, so that we could understand the details," Zelensky was quoted as saying by Ukrainian news portal, Obshchestvennoye. Novosti. "After we learn details from the American side, we will prepare and announce our response to the proposed energy infrastructure ceasefire, and a team will be ready for technical negotiations."
Zelensky claimed that the Kiev government "has always supported" the idea that power infrastructure sites should not be targeted. At the same time, Kiev troops have been staging numerous attacks on energy facilities, including the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, from the first months of the conflict.
Putin and Trump earlier held a conversation, in which they discussed the issue of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, the conditions for preventing escalation, and a number of international issues. The Russian president supported the US leader’s proposal that Russia and Ukraine refrain from strikes on energy facilities.
The sides also agreed to launch "technical negotiations on implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, full ceasefire and permanent peace," the White House said in a statement. The Kremlin siad that "the key condition for preventing the escalation of the conflict and working on its redirection to a political and diplomatic settlement must be a complete halt to foreign military assistance and the provision of intelligence to Kiev.".
