MOSCOW, July 3. /TASS/. The Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media has proposed expanding its authority in the field of AI by formally assuming responsibility for international cooperation, the determination of priority areas, and the provision of support in this sector. A draft government decree has been published on the portal of legal acts.
The ministry outlined the specific powers that could be assigned to it, including participating in the formulation of state policy and regulatory frameworks in this field, coordinating the implementation of AI, and developing proposals for evaluating the effectiveness of the development and application of AI technologies.
"Moreover, it is proposed to empower the agency to foster international cooperation in the area of AI, support the development of large-scale foundational AI models, identify priority areas for AI implementation, review regional digital transformation programs, and prepare methodological guidelines for the deployment of AI solutions within public sector organizations," the ministry added.
