China’s Xi proposes joint effort to Belarus’ Lukashenko to build global governance system

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing is ready to implement initiatives together with Minsk for the benefit of common development, security, strengthening of civilizational values and "the formation of a human community with a common destiny"

BEIJING, December 4. /TASS/. China and Belarus should join forces to reshape and transform the system of global governance and promote the development of the world economy, Chinese President Xi Jinping said at a meeting with Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko.

"The People's Republic of China and [the Republic of] Belarus are important forces in the transformation and construction of the global governance system," China Central Television quoted Xi as saying. "We are ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Belarusian side on the platforms of multilateral mechanisms such as the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," he pointed out.

According to the Chinese leader, Beijing is ready to implement initiatives together with Minsk for the benefit of common development, security, strengthening of civilizational values and "the formation of a human community with a common destiny." He pointed to the need to optimize cross-border transportation links and strengthen trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

Xi also suggested to Lukashenko that the two sides regularly hold joint cultural events and expand bilateral cooperation in education, healthcare, tourism and sports. In particular, he underscored the importance of developing youth exchanges.
