BERLIN, February 27. /TASS/. The provocation with an allegedly damaged Russian tank that was set up in front of the Russian embassy in Berlin on the day of the one-year anniversary of the Russian special operation in Ukraine ended in a complete failure, the Russian Embassy in Germany said in a commentary on Monday.
"Pro-Bandera activists and organizers of the ‘initiative’ destroyed the flowers that German citizens and our compatriots massively laid on February 25, 2023 on the damaged Russian tank that was installed near the embassy building. Thus, it was made crystal clear to ordinary Germans that their point of view on the events taking place in Ukraine, which were expressed in the most peaceful form in their own home, has no right to exist if someone in Kiev does not like it," the embassy said.
"The organizers of the provocation clearly didn’t expect such reaction from the local community. They were confused, milling around the tank that was fenced off by barriers from more flowers. A complete failure," the embassy said in the commentary.
A rusty T-72, which had allegedly been damaged in hostilities in Ukraine, was placed near the Russian embassy in Berlin on the day of the one-year anniversary of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. Two Berlin Story Bunker employees were the organizers of the event. Local authorities initially rejected this initiative, as it affected the foreign policy interests of Germany and did not concern art. However, in October last year, an administrative court in Berlin ordered the authorities of the Mitte district to allow a temporary demonstration of equipment near the Russian embassy.
On February 25, thousands of people demonstrated in the city center against the supply of weapons to Kiev and for negotiations on a settlement in Ukraine to be held as soon as possible. Pro-Ukrainian activists shoved off the flowers placed on the Russian tank by some demonstrators. However, many residents of the capital put the flowers back, entering into an altercation with aggressive Ukrainians. Order was provided by the police, who periodically pushed to the side the aggressive pro-Ukrainian activists.
