Guinea-Bissau leader tells Paris Peace Forum he advised Zelensky to talk to Putin

Umaro Sissoco Embalo said that he expected French President Emmanuel Macron to mediate a resolution in the Ukraine crisis

PARIS, November 11. /TASS/. During his visit to Kiev Guinea-Bissau’s President Umaro Sissoco Embalo advised Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, Sissoco Embalo said at the Paris Peace Forum that opened on Friday.

"In October I had a meeting with Putin and we talked for almost three hours," Sissoco Embalo said at a session on international security. "And my impression was that once a serious dialogue starts, the war might come to an end very quickly."

"After Russia, I headed to Ukraine to meet Zelensky, whom I advised to talk to Putin, because the Russian president is a serious partner," Guinea-Bissau’s leader said.

In addition, he said that he expected French President Emmanuel Macron to mediate a resolution in the Ukraine crisis.

"I believe Macron also has a role in this settlement," Sissoco Embalo remarked in the presence of the French leader.
