HAIKOU /China/, September 1. /TASS/. The online application service for a temporary driver's license for foreigners has become available in China's southern province of Hainan, the Hainan International Communication Network (HICN) reported.
The service is now available for all foreigners, as well as residents of special administrative regions of the PRC such as Xianggang (Hong Kong) and Aomen (Macau) from August 30, 2023. Applicants do not need to provide a health certificate, only an ID, a driver's license issued outside China, and two color photographs.
The application can be submitted at http://hnslsjs.cn. The service is available in several languages, including English, Russian, Japanese and German. A provincial provisional driver's license, according to provincial regulations, is issued for up to 12 months.
Hainan's temporary driver's license program for foreigners started on August 1, 2019. It applies to those who come to the province for both work and leisure.
