Cosmonaut photographs Turkish city from space after earthquake

Russian members of the ISS crew expressed their condolences to the families of quake victims as well as words of support to all those affected

ISS, February 7. /TASS/. Roscosmos cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin, who is also a TASS special correspondent, took a picture of the earthquake-ravaged city of Adana from the International Space Station.

The photographs show the city, the airport and Lake Seyhan, as well as the port of Isdemir.

A 7.7-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras on Monday. The quake was followed by about 300 aftershocks, which were felt in ten regions of Turkey, as well as in neighboring countries, including Syria. Later, another powerful quake rocked the country. According to the latest data, in Turkey, more than 3,500 people have been killed and over 20,000 residents have been injured.
