Russia’s Federation Council to discuss 80 bills before going on recess

At the start of the session, the parliamentarians will consider the candidacy of Igor Krasnov, nominated by the Russian president to the post of the Russian Prosecutor General

MOSCOW, December 20. /TASS/. The Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, will hold the final plenary session of its fall session on Friday, discussing over 80 bills before going on winter recess.

Among the legislative initiatives to be discussed are a bill to increase fines for violations of certain traffic rules, introduction of special ruble accounts for payments to foreign agents, a bill to toughen punishment for armed mutiny and a bill that requires all migrant children to pass a Russian language proficiency test to be admitted to public schools.

At the start of the session, the parliamentarians will consider the candidacy of Igor Krasnov, nominated by the Russian president to the post of the Russian Prosecutor General. In the run-up to the session, relevant parliamentary committees held preliminary discussions on the candidate and issued their recommendations.

At the end of the session, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko will sum up the results of the fall session and outline tasks for 2025.
