MOSCOW, November 8. /TASS/. The final document of the tenth G20 Parliamentary Speakers’ Summit, which is taking place in Brazil on November 4-8, does not mention Ukraine, Konstantin Kosachev, first deputy speaker of Russia’s Federation Council (upper house of parliament), said.
"In our view, the final document of the current meeting of the Parliamentary G20 has turned out to be close to what we would like it ti be, if not perfect. In this regard, I can say that it does not mention Ukraine and the Ukraine crisis," Kosachev said in an interview with the Vmeste-RF TV channel.
According to the senior Russian senator, this means that lawmakers "are capable of paying attention and dedicating their efforts to far more serious and important issues on the current international agenda."
Speaking about the meeting’s outcome, Kosachev emphasized that the Parliamentary G20 was one of the most promising platforms for discussing international issues, and that the Russian delegation to the summit had demonstrated "the culture of parliamentary diplomacy and political dialogue."
"I think we did our best and achieved everything we had planned. The final document has turned out to be effective. We go deeper in discussing issues such as the fight against poverty, our response to climate change and the digital agenda. The Parliamentary G20 has already begun to put forward more specific recommendations on all these issues," Kosachev concluded.
