SOCHI, November 8. /TASS/. The West, being one of the most important elements of the world system, is still on par with developing countries as there can be no hegemony in the new world order, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
The Russian leader reiterated Moscow's position that the West had accumulated "huge human, intellectual, cultural and material resources, through which it can develop successfully, remaining one of the most important elements of the world system. "But precisely one of many, on a par with actively developing states and groups of countries," Putin emphasized at the plenary session of the Valdai International Discussion Club. "Hegemony is out of the question in a new international environment," he pointed out.
Putin stressed once again that Russia did not see the Western civilization as an enemy and never promoted the principle of "who is not with us is against us." Besides, Russia does not seek to teach anyone lessons or "impose its mindset on anyone."
According to Putin, once Washington and other Western capitals accept Moscow’s position, "think it over and recognize the indisputable fact" that hegemony is unacceptable in the new world order," "the emergence of a new world system, which will be in line with the challenges of the future, will finally enter the stage of real creativity."
The Russian leader expressed hope that it would happen as soon as possible. "This is in everyone’s interests, and first and foremost, this is in the interests of the West.".
