SOCHI, November 7. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump is unlikely to offer Moscow an alliance against Beijing, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club.

Putin said he believes that Trump realizes that this issue is "very far from the realities in which we live."

"Russia doesn’t make alliances with anyone against anyone else. Furthermore, that would look absolutely unrealistic with regard to China, with which we have reached <...> an unprecedentedly high level of trust, cooperation and friendship," the president said.

"Countries like China and Russia that have hundreds, thousands [of kilometers] of common borders, a common history of coexistence practically in the same space, shared values despite the difference of cultures - this in itself is a huge achievement, which we should use today and leave these achievements and strengthen them for future generations," Putin went on to say.

The US views China as its geopolitical adversary. Trump was one of the initiators of this approach to relations with Beijing during his first presidential term in 2017-2021. US news reports said the future US administration could offer Russia a partnership to break up its strategic relationship with China.
