BUDAPEST, November 8. /TASS/. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban believes that US President-elect Donald Trump will cease funding military efforts in Ukraine, which could assist in peacefully resolving the conflict in that country.

The Hungarian head of government mentioned on Radio Kossuth that the European Union is unable to fund the Ukrainian military independently.

"The war [in Ukraine] is the primary issue for everyone at this moment," Orban remarked. "America will no longer support this, because Donald Trump opposes war. This will also impact us, as Europe cannot sustain this conflict on its own," he emphasized.

According to him, "the number of people who think they need to adjust to the new circumstances is rising."

Key challenge - lack of communication

Orban further pointed out that the war in Ukraine has inflicted significant damage on the global community. "Had it not been for the conflict, the European economy would have been in far better condition," he stated.

"Had Donald Trump triumphed in the US election four years ago, there wouldn’t have been a war in Ukraine due to strong leadership in the United States. We’ve paid a high price for these four years. But now that’s over. Donald Trump secured a victory that can be seen not just from the Moon, but even from Mars," the Hungarian prime minister claimed.

Discussing the Ukraine crisis, he reaffirmed that Hungary supports resolving it entirely through peaceful means and maintains that the primary barrier to progress is the "lack of interaction." Budapest has repeatedly emphasized the need to keep communication channels with Moscow open, urging its EU counterparts to do the same.

Over recent years, Orban has consistently supported Trump in his political battles in the US, hoping for his return to the White House. On October 31, the Hungarian prime minister expressed his desire for Trump to win during a phone call with the US politician. After the election, Orban congratulated Trump on his victory and expressed optimism that it would benefit the world as a whole.
