T-Bank broadens reach of international transfers through UnionPay payment system

Transfers are available to 61 countries

MOSCOW, May 15. /TASS/. T-Bank has launched international transfers to UnionPay Global cards in 61 countries using card numbers, the bank said in a statement.

"T-Bank has expanded the geography of international transfers — clients can now send money to themselves and others to UnionPay Global cards in 61 countries. Only the card number and the recipient’s full name are required for the transfer," the statement said. Funds will be credited instantly, similarly to domestic transfers within Russia, the bank added.

The bank recalled that previously T-Bank clients could only send money to UnionPay cards issued by Chinese banks. "Now users can transfer money to cards issued in 61 countries, regardless of where the recipient is located. For example, if a card was issued in Uzbekistan and its holder is currently in France, the transfer will still be successfully credited," the bank explained.

Transfers are available to countries across Asia, including China, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Singapore, as well as to Europe and other regions worldwide, including Latin America and Africa. "T-Bank clients can transfer up to 100,000 rubles per month to UnionPay Global cards free of charge, depending on whether they have Pro or Premium subscriptions. A single transfer can amount to up to $5,000 or the equivalent in another transfer currency," the bank said, adding that users only need a ruble-denominated T-Bank account to make transfers.

According to T-Bank’s Head of Transfers Artem Avladeev, the launch of transfers to UnionPay Global cards has expanded the service into a full-fledged international network. "Clients can now send money to UnionPay cards issued not only in China but also in other countries, regardless of where the recipient is located. Sending money to Dubai, Guangzhou or Tashkent is now as simple and fast as making transfers within Russia," Avladeev said. He added that the new service expands the bank’s reach to billions of potential recipients.
