MOSCOW, April 1. /TASS/. To date, around 50 legal entities have opened accounts in digital rubles as part of the ongoing testing phase, Director of the National Payment System Department at the Bank of Russia Alla Bakina said.
"As of today, approximately 50 legal entities have already opened digital accounts and are actively conducting transactions. Furthermore, around 70 legal entities have successfully passed the KYC (Know Your Customer) verification process. In collaboration with the banks that serve these clients, we plan to integrate them into the pilot phase within a relatively short timeframe," Bakina noted.
Since August 15, 2023, the Bank of Russia has been conducting a pilot project involving real digital rubles.
The first phase of testing was carried out with the participation of approximately 600 individuals, primarily employees of 12 banks. These participants tested various functionalities, including opening and closing digital wallets, funding them, conducting peer-to-peer transfers, as well as executing automated payments and transfers.
