HANOI, December 11. /TASS/. Moscow is strengthening its positions on international markets, paying special attention to cooperation with such a strategically important region as Southeast Asia (SEA), Anastasia Sapunova, head of the export activities department of the Mosprom autonomous non-commercial organization, told TASS.
"In 2024, the trade turnover between the [Russian] capital and the countries of Southeast Asia increased by 7% year-on-year, while the volume of non-energy exports of the city of Moscow to the markets of Southeast Asian countries increased almost threefold compared to the same period in 2023," she said.
According to the representative of Mosprom, the main buyers of Moscow’s non-resource non-energy products this year were Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar.
"It should be noted that Indonesia showed an increase in the volume of purchases of the capital's non-energy products by 10.5 times compared to 2023, while exports to Vietnam doubled," she noted.
Industrial goods account for more than 60% of Moscow’s exports to Southeast Asia. Indonesia and Vietnam are the main sales markets. In particular, Indonesia buys metalworking and chemical products and pharmaceuticals. Vietnam purchases construction fittings, medical equipment, instrument-making products, it is also one of the key consumers of food products produced in Moscow. According to the results of the first nine months of 2024, the volume of exports of this category from Moscow to the Vietnamese market increased by 32.3%.
Goods that are in demand among Vietnamese consumers are baby food (since the beginning of the year its supplies have increased by 26% compared to the same period last year), chocolate confectionery (up 32% year-on-year), pasta (up 31% year-on-year), sugar confectionery (up by 15% year-on-year) and others, Sapunova noted.
Moscow authorities offer industrial enterprises a wide range of support measures to enter international markets. The Mosprom center plays the key role in this process. The organization accompanies the capital's exporters at all stages of their foreign economic activity. Its tasks include conducting an analysis of target markets, assistance in overcoming trade barriers, consulting on certification and customs regulation.
