Russian Defense Ministry to purchase 20 BTR-82A armored vehicles

In accordance with the contract terms, up to 20 new BTR-82A armored vehicles will be delivered to the Russian Defense Ministry by the end of the current year

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. The Russian Defense Ministry has concluded a contract on the supply of another batch of the BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, the ministry’s press service said in a release received by TASS on Sunday.

"Within the framework of the state defense order fulfilment, the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation and Military-Industrial Company (VPK) have concluded a contract on the supply of another serial batch of the BTR-82A armored personnel carriers," says the statement received by TASS.

In accordance with the contract terms, up to 20 new BTR-82A armored vehicles will be delivered to the Russian Defense Ministry by the end of the current year.

The BTR-82A armored personnel carrier has an upgraded protection system that increases its survivability. The BTR-82A is also equipped with an improved fire extinguishing system that improves safety in case of fire and explosion. To increase the comfort of the crew, the BTR-82A is equipped with air-conditioning system, which also serves to optimize operations conditions of electronic devices of the vehicle. The BTR-82A is fully amphibious, and an overpressure NBC system, night vision equipment and a central tire-pressure regulation system are fitted.

The BTR-82A armored vehicles are supplied to the Russian Defense Ministry since 2011.
