Russia’s state arms seller offers latest drone, marksman rifle to world market

According to Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev, in 2022, Rosoboronexport launched a global marketing campaign for 15 new military products developed and manufactured in Russia

MOSCOW, January 23. /TASS/. Russia’s state weapons seller Rosoboronexport started promoting 15 new military products on the global arms market last year, including the cutting-edge Orlan unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and the latest Chukavin sniper rifle, the company’s press office reported on Monday.

"In 2022, Rosoboronexport launched a global marketing campaign for 15 new military products developed and manufactured in Russia. Its export catalog was replenished with products for the Air Force, the Navy, the Ground Forces and Air Defense Troops, and also with UAV countermeasures. The market launch of new products significantly increases Russian weapons’ competitive edge and strengthens our country’s positions on the global market," the press office quoted Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheyev as saying.

"Among the long-awaited novelties are the Orlan-30 UAV, the Ballista remote-controlled weapon station module, the Chukavin sniper rifle, UAV countermeasures systems, new underwater weapons, communications equipment, training simulators, motor and armored vehicles," the chief executive said.

The Orlan-30 is intended for conducting aerial reconnaissance, searching for, detecting and identifying objects in the visible or infrared range. In addition, when equipped with a mission payload, it provides target designation for precision-guided weapons for destroying fixed and moving targets in the daytime or at night, Rosoboronexport said.

The Chukavin is a semi-automatic marksman rifle chambered for the 7.62x54 mm and 7.62x51mm (.308 Win) cartridges. The 7.62x54mm version is compatible with magazines of the Dragunov sniper rifle (SVD), which it is intended to replace.
