BEIJING, August 20. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin will be the most honorary guest at the Victory parade in Beijing on September 3, China’s Deputy Foreign Minister Chen Gopin told journalists on Thursday.
"At the beginning of September, Putin will pay a visit to China. He will also attend celebrations of the 70th anniversary of Victory in the world war against Nazis and in the war of China’s resistance to Japanese aggressors. An official meeting between Putin and [Chinese] President Xi Jinping is planned during solemn celebrations," he said.
"President Putin will undoubtedly be the most respectable and honorary guest for the Chinese people at these events. He will be hosted at the highest possible level," the diplomat noted.
The Victory parade will take place in Beijing on September 3. It is expected that newest military equipment of China’s People’s Liberation Army will be showcased at Tiananmen Square in central Beijing.
Leaders of other countries, including Russia’s president, were invited to take part in the celebrations. Servicemen from Russia and other countries will also take part in the parade.
