MOSCOW, April 04. /ITAR-TASS/. Leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky has proposed to close all McDonald’s restaurants in Russia.
“We will close them (McDonald’s restaurants) all over the country, and then we’ll deal with Pepsi,” Zhirinovsky told journalists before a plenary session in the State Duma.
Earlier, McDonald’s announced that it had suspended work in Crimea. “Due to operational reasons beyond our control, McDonald's has taken the decision to temporarily close our three restaurants in Simferopol, Sevastopol and Yalta,” McDonald’s said in a statement, adding that it hopes to resume work as soon as possible.
“McDonald’s closed its outlets in Crimea, and it’s great, I wish it would close everything (its restaurants) here (in other Russian cities) as well,” the LPDR leader said. “I call upon local LDPR organization to arrange pickets outside every McDonald’s outlet in Moscow,” the politician noted.
