West turns Ukraine into impoverished, war-torn country — politician

Ukraine is a clear example of such actions of the West, Viktor Medvedchuk noted

MOSCOW, December 16. /TASS/. After the intervention of Western countries Ukraine became a poverty-stricken and dying country, Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the Opposition Platform - For Life party (banned in Ukraine), said.

"The collective West does not unite people at all - on the contrary, it divides them, even pits them against each other, makes "reasonable investments" in wars and mass murder, finances the atmosphere of hatred towards foreign languages, culture, faith, and traditions," Medvedchuk wrote in his column for Smotrim.ru media platform.

Ukraine is a clear example of such actions of the West, the politician noted. "Before the appearance of Western influencers, there was peace and tranquility in Ukraine. Western democracy was meant to make the country richer and unite the population. Not only were these goals left unachieved - Ukraine has become a zone of global conflict, a warring, impoverished, and dying country," he pointed out.

In this regard, Medvedchuk suggested that Ukrainians pay attention to the new article by Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev "On National Identity and Political Choice: the Experience of Russia and China," in which he pointed out that Western civilization has always sought to impose its will on others. Moreover, the Western countries "primarily relied on the strategy of eroding other countries' power structures through proxies," Medvedev wrote in his article. "The West has always sought to prevent nations from cooperating and fomented rivalry and disagreements. It focused on creating ethnic, linguistic, cultural, tribal, or religious differences and manipulated existing ones to its advantage," Medvedchuk quoted Medvedev as saying.

This is what happened with Ukraine: Western propagandists say "the Kremlin's hand," corrupt officials, the canonical Orthodox Church, and Pushkin prevented Ukraine from being a peaceful and prosperous country, Medvedchuk noted. "All this talk is needed only to disguise the undeniable fact that nobody was going to make Ukraine prosperous and peaceful. The money invested in Russophobia has really paid off with the military-industrial complex, the expansion of NATO, the redistribution of markets, and the destruction of competitors’ advanced industries. Therefore, shedding of blood, sacrifices, and suffering of Ukrainians were planned just to make more money," he concluded.
