MOSCOW, December 15. /TASS/. Ukraine was never invited to join the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and since 1991 the focus in Kiev has been on plundering the country’s wealth, Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Eurasian Information and Analysis Consortium and former Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolay Bordyuzha told TASS in an interview.
"No, Ukraine was never invited to the CSTO, as even within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Ukraine was in a semi-legal position because they had not ratified all of the CIS-related agreements, including the CIS founding acts," Bordyuzha said.
According to him, since 1991, Ukraine has pursued an absolutely isolated policy. "They never agreed to communicate or sought any agreements, nor have they sought to cooperate with other CIS allies," he explained.
Even prior to the Maidan revolution, Ukraine stood little chance to join the CSTO. Even in 1991, "they held their own stance, as they concentrated primarily on the West’s opinion," Bordyuzha maintained.
"In fact, the policy pursued by all [Ukrainian] presidents and all political elites had two goals: first, following the pro-Western course, and second, simply plundering Ukraine’s wealth," he concluded.
