NEW YORK, November 14. /TASS/. Some Ukrainian officials and military commanders see Donald Trump's impending return to the White House as a chance to end the conflict, as they feel the situation on the battlefield is not going in Kiev's favor, ABC television reported.
While there are concerns in Kiev that Trump could halt aid, "many Ukrainians have welcomed Trump's win," the report said. The television channel said Ukraine has a severe shortage of troops.
"The only way left is the diplomatic path," one commander in eastern Ukraine told ABC.
During his election campaign, Trump declared that he planned to put an end to the Ukrainian crisis. He refused to give details of his peace plan. Russian President Vladimir Putin previously listed conditions for the settlement of the conflict, including the withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Donbass and Novorossiya, Kiev's refusal to join NATO, the lifting of all Western sanctions against Russia, and Ukraine’s commitment to adopt a non-aligned and nuclear-free status.
