Released Abkhazian activists have no claims against police who detained them

Ex-member of Abkhazia’s parliament Garry Kokaya, explained that during the next 24 hours, while staying in a cell, he was not subjected to any pressure and had no complaints about the personnel

SUKHUM, November 12. /TASS/. The security service and police officers who detained five Abkhazian opposition activists on Monday treated them rudely, but the released political activists have no complaints to file, one of these oppositionists, ex-member of Abkhazia’s parliament Garry Kokaya, has told TASS.

"During the detention, the special services acted rudely, as they usually do. Well, it's nothing terrible, we are men, we can stand firm. We have no special claims to make," Kokaya said.

He explained that during the next 24 hours, while staying in a cell, he was not subjected to any pressure and had no complaints about the personnel.

Five representatives of the opposition were detained on Monday evening. Three of them were charged with petty hooliganism. Soon their supporters gathered for a protest in Sukhum’s Freedom Square and blocked traffic on three bridges. The bridge over the Kodor River was later opened, but the two others, over the Gumista River, remained blocked until the authorities met demands for the release of all previously detained activists. Traffic on all bridges has now resumed. The released political activists have met with protesters.
