MOSCOW, November 12. /TASS/. To resolve the Ukrainian conflict, US President-elect Donald Trump will likely concede territories Kiev still considers its own, Verkhovna Rada member Nina Yuzhanina has said.
"I think we're going to hear a lot of new things following Trump’s victory. Those red lines set previously could be crossed if there is a legal way to do it. But this won’t be an easy process, and frankly, we need to prepare for the unexpected. In an effort to end the conflict, as Western media have reported, Trump will likely not focus on returning territories to Ukraine, and instead try to shoot for a quick peace," she said on the News Live YouTube channel.
Yuzhanina believes Trump’s claims about ending the Ukraine conflict quickly are serious. "All the preparatory work is already underway. It’s clear that Donald Trump will want to make good on his promise and act swiftly. These preparations will be completed by his first day in office after the inauguration," she added.
Trump has repeatedly stated that he intends to stop the conflict in Ukraine as soon as possible. He has still not come out with a concrete settlement plan, but Western media has speculated that Trump would force Kiev to recognize the loss of territories.
