CAIRO, November 11. /TASS/. Israel's actions in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon endanger the entire world order, which is completely unacceptable, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stated at an emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh.
"Let us make this clear: the Middle East and the entire world are now at a critical juncture in their history. The [Israeli] aggression in the Palestinian territories and in Lebanon is unacceptable; it endangers the entire existing world order," the Egyptian leader emphasized, as reported by his office.
Egypt "will block all attempts to address the Palestinian issue by forcibly displacing civilians or turning Gaza into an uninhabitable zone," El-Sisi said, adding that "regional peace and progress are only possible with the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders." Referring to the situation in Lebanon, el-Sisi reiterated Cairo's support for Lebanese state institutions, as well as the country’s military, and called for the immediate implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
"Despite the circumstances mentioned earlier, Egypt still believes that our region can be saved, and can become stable and prosperous," the Egyptian president said. He noted that Egypt "still views peaceful coexistence as the only option for the development of the Middle East," so the country will continue to uphold the norms of international law in resolving various conflict situations.
Tensions remain elevated at the ongoing emergency summit of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Riyadh. This year, the participants are discussing not only the resolution of the conflict in the Gaza Strip, but also the intensified confrontation between Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah. In September 2024, Israel launched a military operation against the Shiite militia, carrying out massive airstrikes against military sites allegedly used by the movement's supporters.
