KIEV, June 23. /TASS/. The trial of Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk, who is charged with treason, will be held behind closed doors in western Ukraine’s Lvov, the Ukrainian publication Graty reported on its Telegram channel on Thursday.
It reports that Medvedchuk's trial began on June 15. At the preliminary hearing on Thursday, Judge Grigory Zhovnir of the Lvov's Lychakovsky District Court decided to hear Medvedchuk's case in closed session at the request of both the defense and the prosecution. According to the newspaper, Medvedchuk himself requested to hold the trial behind closed doors.
Medvedchuk, together with his lawyers, participates in the trial in Lvov via video link from the hall of the Kiev Court of Appeal. This format was requested by the Ukrainian Security Service.
