TVEL and Tomsk Polytechnic University will jointly train personnel and conduct research

The cooperation agreement between the university and TVEL Fuel Company was signed at the Atomexpo-2022 International Forum

MOSCOW, November 21. /TASS/. Tomsk Polytechnic University (TPU) and TVEL Fuel Company, a subsidiary of the Russian nuclear energy corporation Rosatom, will implement a joint personnel training project. They signed the agreement at the Atomexpo-2022 International Forum held at the Sirus Park of Science and Art in Sochi, the TPU press service told reporters on Monday.

"The cooperation agreement between the university and the Fuel Company envisages joint projects that involve training qualified personnel, developing and implementing educational programs, organizing internships and further employment for TPU students at TVEL facilities, as well as joint research, development and experimental and technological works," the statement said.

According to TVEL President Natalya Nikipelova, the university and the company have a vast number of common interests.

"Today Tomsk Polytechnic University is one of the backbone universities of the Fuel Company. Our enterprises are located from Kaliningrad to Irkutsk, and everywhere we need qualified, properly thinking technologists, engineers and designers," Nikipelova added.

As TPU Rector Dmitry Sednev noted, the agreement will allow to more effectively develop partnership relations based on the integration of educational, scientific and innovative potential, including the implementation of TPU's Advanced Engineering School "Smart Energy System."

"The most interesting areas of activity for joint projects include additive and digital technologies, metallurgy, special chemistry, nondestructive testing, tomography, hydrogen production, and fuel cell development," Sednev said.
